If you have an inground pool, you will need to get good suction on your skimmer. A trick if you have 2 skimmers is to use a tennis ball into one of the suctions so that you only have all the suction at a single skimmer. Now you can hook up your vacuum hose to the vacuum and start by getting the air out of the hose. You can do that by dipping each section of the hose under the water. Push hose straight down and make sure water comes out of the hose. Then put the hose through the side hole in the pool, not on the deck. This way you don't get air in the line again. Hook up the hose to the suction and begin vacuuming.
